Today the Network of the Presidents of the Supreme Judicial Courts of the European Union held a board meeting at the Supreme Court of Tartu to discuss issues concerning the work of the Network. Preparations were also made for a colloquium to be held in Hague on 13–14 November.

"It is a great honour to host such a high-level gathering in Estonia – the Presidents of the Supreme Courts took the time in the busy spring working season to come to Tartu to discuss the concerns of the European courts and judges. Among other things, it is also an acknowledgement of our country and the judiciary as a full member of the European family," said Mr Villu Kõve, the Chief Justice of the Supreme Court of Estonia.

The presidents will be in Estonia from 21 to 23 May. Tomorrow, they will meet, among others, Mr Tarvo Kruup, Head of the East Prefecture of the Police and Border Guard Board in Narva, who will introduce the geopolitical particularities of the border city.

The Network of the Presidents of the Supreme Judicial Courts of the European Union was established in 2004. Its comprised of Presidents of the Supreme Courts of the 27 EU Member States. The network’s board is comprised of 11 members, including Mr Villu Kõve, the Chief Justice of the Supreme Court of Estonia.
