The Supreme Court welcomed the United States Congressional Office for International Leadership delegation
PDFOn February 28, Executive Director Jane Sargus and Deputy Director Maura Shelden of the United States Congressional Office for International Leadership (COIL) visited the Supreme Court of Estonia.
COIL administers the Open World Exchange programme to the United States. The aim of the study visits is to establish lasting professional relationships between the up-and-coming leaders of Open World countries and Americans, and to showcase U.S. values and democratic institutions.
The Supreme Court has been working with COIL for ten years and during this time, 24 Estonian judges and 8 prosecutors have been able to participate in study visits in the United States.
Visiting the Supreme Court, guests and alumni of the U.S visits had the opportunity to reminiscence about the programmes they took part in, talk about future cooperation and the general situation in the world.
The Executive Director Jane Sargus pointed out that a decade of cooperation with the Supreme Court of Estonia is significant for COIL and they are glad they have been able to support the visits of so many Estonians to the United States. Both parties are certainly looking forward to continue this cooperation in the future.
